Colorado Gives Day, an Opportunity to Support Legal Aid

by Sara Crocker on December 3, 2012

Starting at midnight, you can offer donations and show your support for more than 1,000 Colorado organizations, courtesy of Colorado Gives Day on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012.

Here’s how it works: Colorado Gives Day, created by Community First Foundation and FirstBank, dedicates 24 hours to giving to area nonprofits and charities to encourage year-round charitable giving. The great thing is, the organizations you give to gets 100 percent of your donation (and all credit card fees are waived) and those organizations also benefit from a $300,000 incentive fund, which makes your donation go further.

This year, two organizations that work to support access to justice in Colorado and to provide free and low-cost legal services to Coloradans are participating.

Legal Aid Foundation of Colorado promotes equal access to justice by raising funds to provide free civil legal services for low-income Coloradans. Click here to learn more or to give.

Metro Volunteer Lawyers works to to bridge the gap in access to justice by coordinating the provision of pro bono legal services by volunteer lawyers within the Denver metro area to people who could not otherwise afford legal services for their civil legal issues. And, if you’re busy or worried you may forget to give on Tuesday, you can schedule your donation. It’s a great way to help those who cannot afford legal services, from the comfort of your desk.
